Hi Everyone!

I'm in the "Static Single Leg Squat" but i think i have a problem here.

My back is very bent forward (like an arch), trying to balance. I've been training a lot the hips mobility but i was wondering if that is the problem or maybe my achilles heel is too short?

If i put a little disc under my feet i can do a single leg squat without problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Best regards,

Mario.

That does sound like limited ankle/calf mobility. The prescribed remedy would be the FS stretch course, or just stretching the calves on your own...

HI Mario probably yes the limitation it is a tight achilles, you can easily confirm it by performing the exercise with something under the heels of about 2-3 cm and see how it goes. let us know.

Dear Alessandro:

I tried with a little disc of 3 cms under my heels and it works, i mean, i could go completely down with one leg but still with my back curve (but bit less curve than without a support under the heel)... and then i didn't have problems to go up with one leg. So, where is the problem and what can i do to solve it?

Best regards,

Mario.

Hi Mario it is completely natural to curve the back especially if you need to put something under the heel. your situation reflects achilles restriction and you need to know that you can hold the back straight only if the knee can move forward enough, but it is possible only with flexible achilles. the front split stretch course has some nice achilles and plantar stretches.
