On the GST blog today was a post about Bodyweight Squats and the benefits of being able to do them, but it had no tips on the best way of going about improving to be able to do them.

I currently do Foundation 1, Handstand 2 and the stretch series and there don't appear to be any exercises in any of those specifically to improve one's ability to do a bodyweight squat. When I currently try to do one I can't keep my feet flat on the floor, so wondering what is the best way to remedy this? as i would love to be able to do proper squats.

In the Fundamentals course there were a few movements addressed to improve squats such as the frog and bear, so would it be a case of adding those to my daily limber?

The lower body progressions in F1 should get you to be able to do flat footed single leg squats.  Where are you with that progression at the moment?
Bear, frog, duck walks, stretches etc definitely will help getting there.

Hey Anthony,

I agree with Bas. Keep consistent with the Lower Body workouts and include some of the squatting exercises like Ape from Fundamentals in your warmup, along with the daily limber. This is the safest and most complete way to to develop a proper squat.

Also please be sure to keep private course information in the private subsections.

Best,

Everett
