Table inside out -- hand position question

My question is actually about all three iM progressions: table hold, table rocks, table inside out.  The wrists must be directly below the shoulders in all 3 exercises, with fingers pointing opposite from toes?

I can get my wrists below my shoulders for  table hold and table rocks.  Getting wrists directly below my shoulders on table inside out has been very challenging.

Hi Craig,

If you look at the mobility videos at https://my.gymnasticbodies.com/#series/foundation, you'll see you are right: the fingers point in the opposite direction from the toes. In fact, I don't think (unless you're hyper mobile!) that you can do PE3iM except in that way.

It's not clear from your question *what* you can't do in PE3iM. The start is the same. Can you not go over the first half, or the second half? A video would be good.

Hi Craig,

Samin is right. A video would be helpful for this question. Table inside out is a tough one and it may take some time to be able to flip over into the table without allowing the hips to drop. Stay consistent and work towards keeping them up.

Craig,
To start the move, I find it helps to retract and depress your shoulder blades and really press against the floor with your arms lock (triceps engaged) while simultaneously using your legs (and PPT) to push evenly BEFORE you begin to transfer your COM to the side you're turning. It's like a good start makes all the difference!
Then, the more you push with your palm agains the floor (say left arm when you're turning to your left), the more lift and room you'll create in that left shoulder to allow for a safe and smooth rotation at the humerus. For me at first, it was good to move slower than the course video because (although harder) it allowed me to feel/see how to my keep hips and shoulders rotating in sync.

Thanks for replies. I should have started with this picture:  are my hands narrow enough to even consider doing table inside out? My guess now is "no".

Hi Craig,

How far your arms are apart are probably not that important. Different folk will be able to flick over with different widths.

Video --- not photo --- would be good!
