Hi guys

30 Second Wall Handstand: HS/PE7 - Should the toes be very lightly touching the wall?  I have recently been playing with this and have found it's a lot more taxing on the shoulders than just letting the weight bear down against the wall.

I've ultimately been doing this to try to learn to balance more.

Any pointers other than extended shoulders and PPT?

thanks

Ideally is the toes will be lightly touching the wall, as we want the wall to be a spot. However that'll be a later focus point in HS/PE11 where you bring the hands closer to the wall and the hips don't contact the wall at all and due to the closer position of the hands you'll find that it'll feel more like you are using the wall as a spot with your toes (and it's more taxing in the shoulders as you noted). If you look for example at HS/PE9 it states in the focus points  "Feel the chest and upper thighs in contact with the wall" which is the same as HS/PE7 done for more time".

At this point it's nice to explore that as balancing is a continuing work but for HS/PE7 I would not consider it absolutely necessary for mastery. It'll be more necessary for HS/PE11. In HS/PE7 it's important to focus on elevating the shoulders and keeping PPT, not letting the back arch when the you get tired. Play with the position but don't make it harder than it needs to be at this point, that's coming in the future soon enough.

Edit: not sure how I messed up the text with the higlighting... :(
