Hi all,

Great news to hear that GB is exploding and a well deserved one! We think that the new license scheme will work really well for GB and will create a framework for fitness professionals using GB material.

Also addressing the below question from the other thread.

How can high quality instructors be created within a three-day licensing process?

With the level of growth that GB is experiencing, we’re thinking that with the new licensing scheme there will be even more need for local GB representatives. The role of local GB representatives could cover some of the following:

  • -       Communication with the local licensees on behalf of GB

  • -       Provide consultation to the potential licensees to ensure smooth process of obtaining the license

  • -       Quality Assurance

Existing GB affiliates could represent GB locally and assist with the development going forward as we already have experience with teaching GST and had to satisfy higher requirements to become affiliates. Eventually, affiliates might be able to assist as the license provider on behalf of GB.

In order to make the above work effectively, we will have to address the lesson learnt from what worked and didn’t work with the current affiliate scheme.

Would be great to hear what GB and other affiliates think of the above?

Considering the fact that many of us are using old students as potential instructors for our own businesses, licensing on behalf of GB does make sense. If we hire those that meet our own professional standards and thus, GB's,  from this pool, it seems like a natural transition to do so. Quality control is absolutely necessary and will help prevent GB from having crappy Crossfit-like boxes everywhere. We can take a lot from Crossfit's failures- any idiot that wants to make money in the short term can take a weekend class, obtain licensing, and open a box. This is exactly what I do not want to be a part of. We have all busted our butts for years to get to where we are. We have to make sure that those licensees that follow also have strong work ethic, one of the GB philosophy and patience.

Much of the work of quality control is already built into the licensing since these instructors are following an approved script for any class taught. They just have to execute the script properly and engage their class. You'll find more of your time is spent refining the presentation of the script since at the licensing level classes are quite basic.
