I'm looking to purchase some gymnastics mats, primarily as a raised, padded surface on which to increase my ankle mobility for SLS PE1. Does anyone have recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Gymnastics panel mats work well for this because you can gradually decrease the height of the raised surface as you improve.
In the interim, facing a stahl or ballet bar (anything sturdy and easy to hold on to) and grabbing a rung will help you through the complete range of the element. Some of our students have had incredible success in mastering SLS PE1 by combining these two methods.

Everett - can you elaborate just a bit? I also have poor ankle mobility. Do you mean grabbing on to something for the mobility portion (skiers)?
I've also just begun Front and Mid Splits stretching series, the former having some ankle/achilles/calf work. Anything else you'd recommend other than patience?
Sure Patrick. We have had students that needed to hold on to something for both deck squats and skiers and made great progress doing so. When you get something like panel mats, I'd use those or a combination of both methods. As for ankle mobility, you could warm up and cool down with some of the ankle stretches from the stretch courses that you're most deficient in.
