My gym doesn't have a set of rings and I have been using a try to do the rc pe series. Is there any disadvantages to using trx?

For some reason they are bad : :
-bad: the point of attachment is close to the handles this means that you need to constantly open the hands to the side in order to hold the hands over the elbows. this involves tricep, but it is not the focus of the PE. for this reason they are bad in the sense that they shift the focus over other muscles.
-bad: the point of attachment basically reduces a lot the instability.
you will be limited on the pullup variations and also on future rings dip variations.
If you were able to work out a way to separate the straps so they hang down about 50cm from each other then they would be fine. Otherwise as Alex says, they wind up being awkward for RC elements, and defeat the purpose of their use in HBP elements.
