Tuck planche: sPL/SE3 - correct rotation of arms?

When I do the tuck planche my arms want to rotate so that the elbow pits are facing each other. Should I concentrate on and try to have the elbow pits facing to the front or is that irrelevant?

Do what comes naturally.

Personally consider that there is a big activation of pec minor that pulls the scapula forward. this activation paired with internal rotation of the upper arm it is less safe compared to external rotation. with upper arm external rotation you are creating a safe space for long head bicep tendon. of course as your fingers are pointed forward as it is harder to externally rotate the humerus and move the inner elbow outside.

Consider also however that very few beginners have the subtle control necessary to externally rotate the upper arm while simultaneously maintaining proper protraction.

At the end of the day, this is just a tuck planche.  Try not to over think it.

Would it be correct to say that the external rotation will happen naturally when we start working on ring work (starting with ring planks with RTO up to planche) and even then shouldn't worry about it too much?

Coach Sommer

Good point, Jason.

On rings it will happen automatically due to the rings being turned out.

All in good time, gentlemen.  First things first.

Thanks for all the feedback, it's much appreciated! I'm not overthinking, I just wanted to get your opinion on this...
