Finally got my first MN/PE6 that has troubled me for ages and caused me shoulder pain. I have had good weighted pike hangs but something was missing.

For like 3 months now i have done Coach Sommers old tip on Dragondoor of doing 10s static at your max height. This has helped my gain a lot of strength at top positions while i figured out this damn shoulder issue...

Yesterday i had a disappointing session lacking range of motion again and today i decided to go at it again. Cant give up right...?

Made this video and my hope is that others with the same problem can find something useful...All the video is from the same session in order so you will se the difference in ROM in the beginning and end. Also added PE1-5 just so you get an idea of how they look on me.

The clip is non listed so can't be found if you don't have this link and access to the forum.

Summary:

- MN/IM 5&6 where really important for me, also did a variation of these that helped me get my first MN/PE6 today (see video and attached picture). Feet on the same bar as hands but supported by floor.

- Mobility is a HUGE aspect of this movement....!!!

- I liked Coach Sommers old article recommending the 10s top holds!

- My first run in with shoulder forced me to stop training HLL´s for a good while. DONT ignore pain! Only go as far as you can pain free..

Well done! And thank you for sharing:)

Great job!

It may be a bit late to say this, but sometimes, with shoulder issues, the reverse grip HLL is more comfortable. Feel free to try it on bad shoulder days.

Thanks! Yea i read through tons of great threads on this issue and tried the reverse grip but with nu success. =(

Somehow the stallbar pike stretch in the picture did something magical to my shoulders as the session progressed. Normal pike stretches did not.

The pike stretch and the lat stretches also fixed my shoulder for HLLs.

Agree without those pieces the puzzle is not complete! Interesting how many components come together in one move =)

PS: Don't forget to get stall bars.

Congratulations! It must be a great feeling of satisfaction overcoming something like that!
