Hello,
please critique this mobility element. Thank you!
Hi Giovanni,
Look at the video: one thing I notice is that you're swivelling your head and arms far more back than the model. At the bottom of the movement, for instance, I can just about see the model's outer eye; at your bottom, I can just about see your inner eye.
Just swivel your hips, the flutes will move side and down to keep your balance.

The forum editor auto-corrected mu "glutes" to "flutes; maybe it thinks (knows?) my glutes are like flutes :-)
Samin, flute glute, maybe you need to consult a specialist. ![]()
OK and now back to the OP. My thought is you are more concerned with the twist than you need to be. the upper body doesn't actually need to twist at all here. This is all about the lower body, knees and hips in particular.
It's a sort of forgotten fact in fitness that the knee are capable of a certain amount of rotation which increases as the knees bend.
The iM's for SLS for what Coach Sommer called the Knee Series back in the early days of GB. So think this is about your knees.
Try to rotate your hips to the side from the knees with the idea that the knees stay together and the shins remain pointing forward.
Thanks Cole! I'll work on focusing on knees rotation.
Another cue that worked for me: think of sitting down on a chair, but the seat is slightly to the left/right (it's not directly behind you). Do this keeping knees+feet together.
