Hi there - Could some1 plz give me critique on the form of my MN/PE2 + iM? The recordings is from my first time ever attemp on these elements.  I am aware that I still got a lot of more work to do with these elements. need to do more reps + better ROM. Just need to have a check on the form to see if I'm on the right path.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Tobias, congrats on progressing from MN/PE1!

On the straddle-up, you need to straighten your legs completely and point your toes.  You should also sit more upright - part of your lower back might be touching the floor.  When you sit upright, you won't be able to bring your legs as high because you will lack the compression strength, but the strength will come with more practice, pancake stretching, and compression-specific work.

On the Jefferson Curls, you should start by tucking your chin and curling your spine as you go down.  On the way back up, you need to uncurl the spine.  I always imagine rolling and unrolling a towel.  Right now, you have very little curl in the spine - it looks almost like a stiff-legged deadlift.  If you're not doing the Thoracic Bridge Stretch Series already, I would recommend it as the stretches will help restore flexion in your spine.  Also, not sure how much weight you were using, but remember to take these slow and use a weight you can easily handle.

PE:

-legs need to be straight

-hands should touch the floor exactly under the groin

-more coordination between upper and lower body is needed

MN:

-there is no CURLING HERE. the movement should be though about one vertebrae at time

-hold the bar as close as possible to the body and move it away only when necessary. the necessity point comes when more roange of motion is necessary and you need to go lower.

Been working on this element for the last two weeks now. can't really tell if it's getting better or not - Having a tough time trying to figure out the curling on the jefferson curls. Alaso not quite sure if I'm sitting upright enough on the straddle up and is the legs pulled up high enough?

Thanks for all the replies guys. Much appreciated!

Hey Tobias! Your PE looks decent, but definitely work on compression.

Here are some drills:

  • Go into an "inverted hang" on the bars and bring down your legs into an upside down pancake
  • Work on your pancake and pike (stretch series)
  • Do dedicated holds of the top position
  • Go to the top position, and then "pull" your feet to deepen the stretch

Hold these drills for maybe 3x30 seconds, and you'll get better slowly.

Thank you! I'm already doing passive hangs as part of my warm up. However, I think it's about time for me to buy the stretch series - People keep recommend it to me ;)
