(sorry for my english)

This is the link to see my circles. I'm not a gymnast but i've trained with the WODs for about 2 months, i've started doing circle on the bucket and since one week on the mushroom.

I'm training with the rings and now i can perform simply back lever, front lever, muscleup and a straddle planche on the floor. But circles are very difficult for me...

I accept any critique and advice to increase this skill..

thanks to everyones who answer

Please repost the video where we don't have to download file sharing software to see it. It's probably easiest to create an account on YouTube and upload it there, then you can post a link to the video right on the GymnasticBodies forum so that it appears embedded in the message.

You have a good lean going on your right arm but are not leaning on your left to the same degree. This is very common for beginning clockwise circles.

Your hips are also piked as you initiate the circle. Stretch. Think, arch like the ag walk.

Alessandro Mainente

then it is your opinion that the movement must be symmetrical? that the angle between shoulder and wrist should be the same?

Gregor

Left and right side must be symmetrical!

Lean on left as much as you lean on right side and lean forward as much as you lean backward.

thak you very much for the tips...now i can do almost 20-22 circles, and i want to lear flairs...Now i know the movement of the legs but what is the secret to bring up the hips and the ass when i'm in the back of flair (with my back extent not piked)? And take my legs straigth and high is something about the strength in the lower back as the planche?

Sorry for my english but thanks to everyone who answer..

Gregor

Before flairs I would go to the number 50 (now 20 circles).

In flairs is very important flexibility (active and pasive) and technique.

Alex, an interesting progression I learned to develop flairs and have worked with success (not my own) is to work spindles after developing a good circle and then straddling in the spindle. I was told this just creates the flair effect and it does!

However, that coach also noted he has all his gymnasts be able to do 20 on the floor mushroom before spindles and flairs.

And to describe my student's straddle flexibility as poor is an understatement. An interesting note is one of my beginning guys who is getting circles will sometimes start straddling and flairing mainly as a by-product of how loose he is (he has a very good straddle but is loose and general [besides not so strong]).

thank you very much....now i want to increase my number of circles and after i'll try spindles...

Now i have a good flexibility, frontal and longitudinal split...it's necessary flexibility in other parts of the body?

thanks to everyone who answer

Blairbob

shoulder extension flexibility is good. the stretch is to sit in a pike and reach behind you, ideally making a lock with your pinkies crossed.

sometimes irritates the elbow

it's a bit like the german hang stretch

i know what you talking about...in this position i can touch the floor with my back and with my arms very near (the distance is about 15-20 cm)....is good?

Blairbob

sounds good to me

...i see that when i am on the 13-14 circles i touch with my feet on the ground...is possible because i don't support my body sufficiently in the opposite side?

Excellent suggestion!

If you remember that circle tutorial I linked on youtube, it was that coach's progression who posted it on Chalkbucket. I think he is based in one of the Carolinas.
