Why do BtGB and Foundations Dip Progression differ?

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I am curious why there is a difference between the dip progressions in BtGB and the Foundation series.

The progressions are mostly the same but there are a few differences.  In BtGB, the first 3 progressions are PB negative Dips then PB jumping dips then PB dips.  In Foundations the first 3 are bench dips, PB negative dips then PB dips.  in BtGB the PB Russian (and PB Russian L) come right after PB dips, whereas in Foundations they come after Korean undergrip dips.  Also Foundations omits PB Bulgarian dips entirely (which appear in BtGB after Russian L dips but before single bar dips).

Anyone have any ideas as to why the progressions changed as between the two programs?  Why no jumping dips or Bulgarian dips at all in Foundations?  Why do the two PB Russian dip progression now appear later in the sequence?

Just curious.

Thanks!

Bulgarian dips come later in Foundation 2. They're using rings, but they're still there, so I'm not sure what you mean.

In BtBG, there are two Bulgarian dip progressions.  One with PB (the one that isn't in foundations) and the one with rings (which is in both BtBG and Foundations).

I think the revisions in the progressions, i.e. the order, came as a result of Coach working with more and more adult athletes, who often have particular strength or mobility deficits which suggested a different progression for the Foundation program.   It is my sense that BTGB presumes a less wrecked-weak desk bound zombie body.

Bench dips were most likely added to address mobility deficits in the shoulders. Many adults who have been in the fitness world can dip, but they're very far away from reaching their wrists with their shoulders when going down. The intensity of bench dips is not as great as proper dips, so it allows you to focus on this aspect (that and the very short rest between sets^^). As for jumping dips, they probably were removed exactly because many adults can already dip, whereas it might be different with the little kids Coach used to have (although I'm sure they'd learn it much faster overall).

I think Koreans come before Russians now for the same kind of reason, so you don't get too strong without your mobility catching up.

So basically, the changes reflect Coach's change of focus from working with kids ('just' or rather, mostly strength progressions) to working with adults (more mobility, and mobility even in the strength elements).

Thanks Wolf & Bro':

That makes a lot of sense.
