Front lever rows and static FL

Hello !

Is it possible to do front lever pull ups without being able to hold a straight arm front lever ?

i ask this because i've seen many people doing planche pushups without being able to hold the straight arm planche... so i'm wondering if it is the same for the front lever.

thanks in advance for the answers !

thank you zach !

My question is just stupid...

Wait it's not done !

If i want to perform nice form Front lever Rows, should i progress by doing rows in easier body shapes or should i wait until i got a solid static full front lever before even thinking about the FLPU ?

If you have a solid hold on a X variation of static you can try to do the corresponding dynamic movement. on tuck pl i remember at least 15 to 20 seconds for a solid and proficient tuck pl push up.

Both of course ;)

Static first though. Doing fl rows with strict form wont hurt, but put your hold time in first if it is still in development.

Once it is rock solid it should be six of one, half a dozen of the other regarding order, although you might be best off warming up/performing some pre-str with the static.

You should basically put your dynamic training on hold.

Thanks you so much for the good infos !

Jon Douglas, i will progress this way then, thanks

Alexander : i don't really understand what you mean... are you saying that i should train Fl pull ups on variations that i can hold ? of course that's what i plan to do.

Actually i can hold a solid one leg tuck lever  and a straddle lever for few second before piking like a pussy :D

also i seen a YouTube video where it is reported that Zef Zakaveli never trained specifically for a full front lever and got it in the first try by just doing pull up and muscle ups, and he can do it with perfectly straight arms and can do several rows with almost full ROM with no specific Work (as he said) . Roman myagkov, an other really strong athlete on Front lever said that his first front lever was the result of a lot of pull ups.

What do you think about this ?

I think is not truth, they are different patterns that your brain need to develop and create a wire. It's like because you balance a barbell with your BW as a load you can hold a HS. Obviously pullups help you tremendously with your front lever, but at the same time you need to train the pattern. One is BAS and the other one is SAS.

Here you have an example :

It is a joke. You should not do the dynamic versions, but rather the static HOLDS. So you put your statics on hold. Clearly, I need to better my jokes on the internet...
