Bryan, I use a broomstick handle and combine that with some 2.5 kg plates. Makes it easy to scale the weight and it's cheap.

i use a piece of bamboo with weights on it. at the gym i work at i use a broomstick and PVC pipes with the plates slid over them.

get anything that allows you to be able to fully grip the bar. so perhaps try with a broomstick or if you need anything longer cut some PVC. steel pipe works too

PVC or Broomstick with added weights are the way to go. The problem with a weighted bar, is it is hard to incrementally add weight.

Also, if you're tall, the weighted bar may not be long enough for your initial ROM!

Yeah, don't spend good money on a special equipment, when a dowel + fractional weights (that you probably already have in the house) will do the job fine. :-)

I suggest both:

-wood bar where you can put the weight in the center

-barbell bar where you can fix the weight to the side (i have a 2.3 mts bar)

I know it sound strange but with a certain weight i suggest the alternation of plate distribution. so if you have to do dislocates with 5 kg. perform 2 series with plate in the center of wood bar and the other 2 with plates fixed at the barbell bar extremities. the weight is the same but you can involves more some muscles than only a part of shoulders stabilization muscles.
