Hello guys

For quite some time i've had some lower back discomfort, not only when I train, but also when I just bend over and stuff like that. My discomfort have been declining since I started doing GST October last year, but it havn't disappeared yet. Do you guys recommend any exercises that I can do maby before or after a GST-workout that will strengthen the lower back and decrease the discomfort?

First of all, how proficient are you on the plank variation for planche development? and how is your posture viewed from the side?

You need to identify exactly what is causing the lower back pain because there can be many factors; like tight hip flexors and obliques, inhibited glutes, weak muscle chains vs strong muscle chains, pulled/strained muscles, tendon issues...

For that you need to try doing different exercises targeting different muscle groups in terms of stretching and strengthening.

Be wary not to put too much load on.

I suggest you experiment with the progressions to see which exercises are harmful, which are helpful, and which are inconclusive.

Hello Alessandro

Thank you very much for your answer.

Well, on my straddle planche i'm currently on the sPL/PE6-progression and my lower back has quite a big curve if you see it from the side.

If you have clear variability in the 3 normal spine curves, you are experimenting a sort of compensation on the lower back.

The simplest solution is to begin the Middle Split  and Front Split Stretch series.

Your lower discomfort may also stem from weak abdominals, or just a weak core in general. When the abs begin to give out, your spine stops acting like a column, since your pelvis goes into anterior tilt, and instead you begin to rest ever so slightly on the spine's end range of motion.

In the past, I would always get aches in my lower back after a full day of standing up, like going to festivals or hiking, but F1 took care of that.
