- you're going a little faster than I'd consider ideal
- you're relying too heavily on your lats. Look at how high your butt goes, compared to the athlete in the video. Focus more on compression!
A) Don't hold your breath.
B) Use a narrower grip
Generally speaking, when you think you have a "Strong" core keeping working on your core. A lot of your overall stability, especially while up in the air, comes from your core muscles.
Was that a video of the first set or one of the later sets? If that was the first set, the later sets will reveal the weaknesses you really need to work on.
You need to compress more as ideally you are trying to touch your toes to the bar that you are holding.
You look like you are lifting your legs with ease so let me start out by saying you have good active flexibility and strength.
I see you are on the top rung of the stall bars. That isn't going to cut it. You should be down on the bars that are even so that you can prevent your lats from taking over the movement as was already mentioned.
Slow down considerably. You aren't building explosive core strength with This move. There are explosive core exercises that should be done but this isn't one of them. Think slower vs faster. Think core stability vs 6 pack. Think 1,2, Hold Hold 1,2, done. Make these small but important changes and you will continue making gains. Keep it up man! You're doing good.
You are really strong and your legs are very straight all the time. But as said before, you should "compress" more, which means your toes should touch the bar, not your shins! This is very important vor manna, V-Sit and Presses!
Thank you all so much for the feedback. I understand exactly what you all are saying am going to work on the points you guys have outlined. Slower, more compressed, toes touching hands, narrower grip, not using top rungs, not holding breath etc. Once I have improved the exercise I will repost a video to show my progress. Again, sincerely appreciate it everyone, and also the positive reinforcement. This is a great community.
Rayne-William - to answer your question it was one of the first sets. I am sure you are right.
Cheers,
David
