Sam Deamer

Just wanted to make sure i was ok to progress

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Structure looks good.  It looks like you are descending and ascending along an angle.  You will appreciate the extra difficulty of going straight up and down from the forward lean when you have more strength upon progressing to PPLs.

Go lower :D And try to keep, as Mark as said, the same angle all over the movement; super important to build correct strenght without piking too much.

You're on your way ;)

Also, you appear to be using stored elastic energy to push back up. A very brief pause at the bottom, chest and chin touching the floor, should eliminate that. Have fun!  :icon_twisted:

Nice critiques, gentlemen.

Sam, it is coming along nicely. Just a little bit of refinement left to go.

should you try to keep your protraction at the bottom of the pushup or should you allow the scapulas to retract at the bottom??

SoyeBoy

They can retract.

Sam Deamer

Thanks a lot gents!

The whole "protracted at the bottom" thing had me confused as well so I think that should help me get a bit lower. I'll try to pike a little less and use some pauses and maybe a slower tempo and re-film.

BTW just had to share this :) Still a lot of work to do but I really can't believe how good my shoulders feel

Sam Deamer

This is my last set of 5 (deload week) trying to pike a little less, not bounce at the bottom and getting my chest to the ground (not so much protraction at the bottom)

Much harder! Thinking I'll go back and start at 4x4 and build back up to 5x10 with these new tweaks. I also found the mobility portion much harder than usual.

Any suggestions/advice?

Thanks in advance

Adriano Augusto

Much more solid Sam. You're more in a block and with full ROM. You still pike just a little bit at the bottom, but nothing to worry about too much, seriously.

It would be a good idea go back to week 5 and build endurance with the new cues. It is normal that the iM becomes harder, as you are maximixed your ROM at the PE.

;)

Awesome!

Thanks for the feedback Adriano, amazing how much of a difference the details make - PAIN!
