Dynamic Flexibility in GST

What role does dynamic flexibility play in GST specifically, excluding more technical gymnastics work? As somebody working through foundation, is it worth spending significant time on, or should my attention during accessory mobility work be focused on active and passive flexibility?

A separate stretching program, S1, is scheduled to be released "soon".

Both dynamic and passive mobility are very important in terms of aquiring strength and gymnastic skills. You will benefit from doing additional stretching at the end of your workouts, as cooldown.

I believe that if you do not meet the mobility requirements paired with the strength exercise one is not supposed progress further strength, until your mobility deficit has been corrected. The importance of the mobility work itself depends on your current flexibility compared to your strength. I would believe that foundation mobility elements would cover all neccessary stretching but adding seperate passive stretching would increase the rate which your mobility improves.

Dynamic flexibility lets you explore your ROM, but passive stretching allows you to spend more time at the very edge of your ROM to try to move past it. From there you can use techniques like loaded stretching or PNF type techniques in combination with strength training to try and build active flexibility.

Personally, I use both dynamic and passive stretching (loaded stretching and other techniques), with the goal of both being to build active flexibility. Simply stretching without building strength through the new ROM isn't a very good idea.

From Foundation, the mobility will cover a lot of your dynamic stretching work. Adding some passive stretching with the right techniques is a good idea to help expand your ROM.
