Grab bars at the same distance from the body, if not the result will be a miss alignment of the shoulders that ideally must remain on the same vertical , and orthogonal to the floor, line.
Control your breathing. Sounded like you were holding your breath. Pressing movements and holds will benefit slightly from you holding your breath due to increased blood pressure. This however is only a very short and fleeting moment that doesn't hold up for this kind of training. Learn to use shallow breathing so that you can continue to perform over longer periods of time. I use to do the same thing when learning Press HS. I was super lightheaded afterwards and it took a while to figure out why. ![]()
I would mention a couple things: 1. grab 2 bars in the same plane. if you use the top bar (out further than the others) it is much easier and not putting nearly the same leverage on your bottom shoulder. 2. You will likely be unable to do this, as even on this version you are using significant momentum to make the rotation. 3. Therefore, assuming you truly mastered SE1 (which i'm sure you did...this exercise is much harder in my opinion), I would start with negatives. Start with legs to side, and then slowly rotate your body back around to the block hold position. This will burn the posterior shoulder and the serratus muscles. wow. it will work them good. As this gets easier, try to adjust back to the main exercise not doing negatives and go from there. Good job, and well done posting your form checks for critique.
