hi gymnasticbodies-crowd,

i recently had a conversation with a friend about the right shoulder position concerning german hangs. from my understanding, since german hangs evolve into BL-progressions, shoulders should be protracted. my friend was convinced you should retract your shoulders to maximize the stretch in the bottom position. looking at the videos provided in R1 i´m still not sure what the right position is.

thanks in advance for answering :)

Ideally , since is highly recommended to finish foundation 4 before to start , you do not need to focus to much on stretch position since you got all the necessary mobility previously.

Btw to get all the benefit from this stretch but ONLY for the stretch you need to roll backward the shoulders and retract the scaps. The bodyline and scapula position on bl follow a little different pattern.

- To maximize the stretch the shoulders should be retracted and elevated.

- Alex is also correct in recommending that the shoulders are properly prepared prior to beginning focused BL work.
