I'm getting a lot of pain in my wrist from doing these, always in the pressing (bottom) hand. For you anatomists out there, it's localized to a muscle or tendon directly medial to the ulna. I've never had issues with this kind of pain before, and although it wasn't very bad at first its starting to bother me during H1 work, elbow levers, and general hand balancing. Thoughts?

SL SE1 Wrist Pain

One possible reason is that you are grabing the bars a little bit off and your body is starting to rotate. When you try not to rotate you strain the wrist. That is my expiriance at least ![]()
It could be something else but do try to play with the hands position a little bit and see what happens. A good rule of thumb is to feel the pressure on the heel of the wrist (opposite to the thumb side)
Thanks for the help; I'll try that out when I do foundation today.
Flexor carpi ulnaris?
If it is, are you doing a lot of pulling work? Try massaging near the pronator teres area and see how that feels

No more than what's in Foundation. Tried SL block again today, was pretty rough. I'll do what you said and see if it helps, but any advice for the meantime? Should I stay away from this element if it's particularly painful?
Yes, for the time being you need to delay moving on to this element.
It is quite unusual for your wrists to not be strong enough for SL/SE1 at this stage in your training. Have you accurately followed and completed all of the prior training in H1, F1, F2 and F3?

Coach Sommer
That is a strange exercise to get pain with. There are 10 joints in the wrist and they can get stiff. Even if one is stiff it can really affect your training.
It sounds like you need a musculoskeletal assessment to determine what is going on. It could be as simple as a few treatments and you will be fine. In the mean time follow Coach's advice and not do this exercise until you find out what is going on.
