Insane mastery requirements for fl?

Hej everyone,

Has anyone else noticed that there is only going to be a few seconds rest between the front lever sets..... That is some insane mastery. It's almost like doing 50 seconds of straight fl work. Imagine the crazy strength you would have completing this, it is just mind blowing.

when you take a step back and look at it, that's exactly what "1 minute of accumulated - etc work" was in the WOD's but this is what it looks like when it goes through the Foundation meat grinders for us beginners.

still, it's pretty wild, isn't it? looks like a bunch of fun to be had ^_^ (fun in this instance means cramps and fatigue :P )

All of the mastery requirements are pretty ridiculous. For the manna you do 50s of manna holds - and your rest is doing more mannas!

What's great is that the courses provide all the progressions needed to work up to that level of strength. Put in the effort to master the progressions you're on now, and eventually you'll be working on the final elements.

Well it is "mastery", not "dabble in" :D.

Think of all the neat party tricks one'll be able to do if one is able to that :).

I'm certainly looking forward to the outcome of completing just the foundation my mind can't even process completing rings and all the other courses to come.... Mind blowing

Some of the masteries are simply quite impossible for heavy people, let's not kid ourselves those 100 kilos guys will be happy with achieving one set of 5 sec of front lever or planche, and following the programme literally might mean that they won't have enough time in their life to get there, especially if you start at the age of 40.

Yep let's just give up then and sit on the sofa all day

I disagree. Example: Josh Naterman was making pretty good front lever progress while still being over 200lbs.

There's also a difference between heavy but lean and heavy and fat. The former should have little issue still with mastery, while the latter can be fixed with basic improvements to nutrition. Don't ever sell yourself short on what you're capable of. :)

Let's not pretend to be experts on the limits of what the human body is capable of. It is true that levers are intrinsically more difficult for taller individuals, but that does not mean the mastery standards are impossible to achieve.

instead of talk about body weigth is better talk about weigth distribution. before to start the foundations i was able to hold 6-7 seconds of straddle planche. 5x10 seconds is harder but not impossible.

nobody asked to me to start foundations. this are the standards, it' a good challenge. oizzontal levers will never be my strongest point, but these skills in the foundations are acceptable requirements for all the people.

I've managed to hold a couple sets of front lever for a couple seconds a while back when I had about 25-30 % fat at 95 kilos and wasn't really training it properly( most of the weight was in my legs too) I think the mastery req is reasonable for just about anyone, it will take time and hard work though regardless of who you are.
