So according to Coach Sommer, elbow should be locked in straight arm work. However should knees be locked in Jefferson Curls, pike movements etc. (basically straight leg work)

Yeah, locking them engages the muscles required in a pike more optimally (pikes are what the MN iMs work towards). And in a pike they need to be locked as well. I read somewhere, when in doubt: lock them ![]()
I find jefferson curls can be painful on my knees if I don't load them up heavy enough, to transfer resistance to my hamstrings.
Lock those knees.
