Daniel is listed as staff here: http://www.thebarfitnessga.com/#!staff/cv1r and teaches a twice weekly class

I'm assuming Josh or Daniel didn't ask Coach about this before hand? The contract seminar attendees sign is pretty clear, don't teach workshops with Coach's material, so without the OK it's pretty iffy, particularly since Daniel uses Coach as his reference.

On Daniel's side I could let it go with a stern letter, and count it as him being green and enthusiastic. However with all the times Josh has been in the kettle, he really should have  known he was again pushing a boundary.

On the other hand, we should look at this as an opportunity, and get an official GB seminar set up in Atlanta.

Cole, are you available to join us on a skype here in a few minutes?

Cole Dano

Our conversation today reminded me Cory may need to make a new flag

As a follow up, Daniel's elbow tendonitis was fairly old and from prematurely training OAC.

"To Coach Sommer and the Gymnastic Bodies Staff:

There has been a misunderstanding regarding the recent workshop at The Bar Fitness, during which I assisted Daniel Burnham. I did not realize that lending a pair of eyes and body alignment cues such as pelvic tilt in planks and lat activation in pull was in violation of the nondisclosure agreement. It was not my intent to compete with Gymnastic Bodies, and I hope that is clear to all involved. I did not create the event, did not form the curriculum, and I was not aware that this would be perceived as a breach of contract. No proprietary information has been passed on.

My earlier conversation with Coach Sommer at 1240 Eastern Standard Time made it clear that Gymnastic Bodies considers such activity to be in violation of nondisclosure. I apologize for the misunderstanding, and will not be a part of any future events without contacting the GB staff directly first. A hand-written copy of this message will be sent via postal mail tomorrow, as I do not have access to a printer. This document was created at 1904 Eastern Standard Time.

Respectfully,

Joshua Naterman."

Coach Sommer
Joshua,

On further review your initial statement is unacceptable.  Without attempting to insert justifications for your actions, acknowledge that you are aware that your actions were in violation of your NDA.  Further state that such actions will not occur in the future.  Be specific.

Yours in Fitness,

Coach Sommer

Pursuant to our conversation yesterday, here are the rules Iyengar yoga has developed for their certified teachers.

http://iynaus.org/teach/trademarks

Only Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers in good standing are permitted to use "Iyengar Yoga" to describe their yoga programs or classes. The term “in good standing” as employed by B.K.S. Iyengar means that the certified teacher

  1. Pays annual dues to their association and pays the annual certification mark fees;
  2. Teaches in the method set forth by B.K.S. Iyengar without mixing methods;
  3. Receives continuing education from RIMYI or from an Intermediate or Advanced Iyengar teacher or teachers;
  4. Is mindful of the Ethical Guidelines laid out by B.K.S. Iyengar and has signed the annual certification mark/ethics agreement.

HOW CAN YOU HELP INSURE PROPER USE OF "IYENGAR YOGA"?

While IYNAUS is a national association, it does not have oversight duties for the U.S. yoga community. In other words, IYNAUS, a volunteer organization, does not have the capacity to police the use of the term "Iyengar Yoga". This patent was obtained for the benefit of our individual teachers. If you encounter or hear about a non-certified teacher using the term "Iyengar Yoga" to promote himself or herself, we are counting on you to help rectify this situation.

Most of the misuses of "Iyengar Yoga" are best worked out locally. In many cases, you, as a Certified Teacher, can contact the person who is misstating their qualifications and inform them about our Certification process, the amount of work required to earn the privilege of using the Iyengar name, and the name of a teacher who can help them become certified if they are interested. Informing this person that it is Mr. Iyengar's request that only Certified Teachers use his name will bolster your case.
