Slight stomach sag in Scap Shrugs (sPL/PE1)

Hey guys,

When I perform my scap shrugs, my stomach seems to sag a little bit in the "shrug" part of the movement where you are pinching your scaps together.

After rewatching the example video in F1 dozens of times, it is just too difficult to determine if the athlete's stomach sags a little bit since the video is not from a side angle.

So, does proper mastery form include maintaining the tight hollow body shape during the shrug portion, or is it allowed to break down a little and allow for a slight stomach sag?

Thanks for the help!

This particular problem was already addressed in another thread.

keynote was to try to stay as hollow as possible. nevertheless the main concentration should lay on the shrugging part.

So a little sagging at the bottom of the movement is acceptable.

ok after reading another thread which addressed the differences between the plank (hollow body) and pushups (straight body) i'm not that sure anymore if we want

a) a hollow body like in the plank. so we concentrating on a round back

b) a straight body like in a pushup

while we perform the scapular shurgs. Any clearification?

Some small sagging will naturally occur at the bottom of the movement.  Do not be overly concerned with this, concentrate on moving those shoulder blades.

i've read every thread on scapular shrugs so far. i know the broad meaning is to perform it with a hollow body.

i just got confused by the other thread so i'm not sure if everybody is aware of the difference.
