Assessing Whey Protein Brands

Hello!

Does anyone have tips on assessing whey protein brands?

I'm in the UK.  Two popular brands here, for example, are:

http://www.maxishop.com/maximuscle/size-and-strength/progain

http://www.phd-supplements.com/store/p/113/1/Growth-Factor-Mass-2kg.html

or perhaps better to go with a simple version without so many other things added?

Thanks in advance for any advice, and thanks for so many previous great posts...

So I went with Myprotein which so far I recommend, since you can buy the concentrate and isolate separately, so you can experiment and control ratios.

They are cheaper than the other brands, and I don't really care about taste.  (I went with 'no flavour' which is always a lie, everything has a flavour.  Its just not a very interesting one.)

So if you're in the uk I recommend them for quick delivery and what seems like a good product so far.

Do a quick search on google for discount codes - I found one for 15% off on the first order.

Keilani Gutierrez

i've tried a few, didnt really like'm but i can't give you anything that isn't biased because i've only stuck out with one.

it tastes great just with plain water, but im more of a fan of making mixes with fruits and other add on's so i can get a fruit serving pre and post work out.

I'm gonna order PHD Iso 7 Synergy. I fancy a bit of all-in-one.

I tried USN Pure Protein IGF-1 before. I couldn't tell the difference if its having an effect on me.

Before that, I tried USN Muscle Fuel STS or something close. I can't remember exactly what it is. Even then I'm still not sure if its having an impact on my gains or performance. However I enjoyed drinking it!

Have you looked into myprotein?  It comes out much cheaper.  Looking at all those all in ones which don't specify percentages makes me wary, and even if they do how do you know how much of each ingredient ends up in each scoop?  Maybe they have some clever way of mixing it so it spreads evenly, but surely some ingredients would tend to sink further to the bottom etc and you end up with a bunch of creatine one day and very little the next?

If I got an issue with mixed ingredients, I'll simply give the tub a good shake. I looked at myprotein and don't have anything to say about it.

This is exactly what I buy. Most commercial proteins are full of crap and the industry is a sham. I buy the cheapest, cleanest, unsweetened whey I can find. Mix with water in a shaker bottle. I don't even care about taste, as long as it doesn't make me gag.
