Hey folks,

i would like to know at which point in the foundation series it would be legit to start working on

the basic ring strenght 1 routine. i mean the one coach suggested quite some time ago.

below is a link to the video:

Also how often should we train it if we're working on f1 and h1 to not overtrain?

so long

Foundation series is working on literally everything in this series and its continuations.

Why would you skip ahead to do ugly muscle ups and waste time waiting for your elbows to adjust to ring Lsits and handstands when you can work up to em perfectly with the plan you already have?

Basic Ring Str 3 with 3 reps of everything and presses to HS instead of SS is also still far less difficult than the workouts by the end of F2. Stress not and keep putting in reps.

Foundation is precisely that, a foundation to begin building ring strength upon. With patience it will culminate nicely.

Just start conservatively with f1 and h1 and add a day at the end of the cycle if you think your body can handle.

Not trying to kill your fun, if you want to play with it go nuts! Just keep in mind the priority of where to put your energy. Muscle ups in particular I have noticed are easy to learn with bad form, and can be messy to clean up. They will also be hard on your elbows while learning, especially if you are doing a lot of negatives, and you risk slowing your straight arm F work by overdoing this.

I had no trouble doing this series prior to F1 coming out. Post F4, I cannot imagine it presenting any difficulty at all. My muscle ups are better than ever after not training them since Foundation came out. This really is 'basic' compared to what (no doubt) will be upcoming on the rings :)

Edit re F2;

I'm working now at about the max difficulty level I was doing in the WoDs, but with more volume, regularity and focus on form, plus of course the mobility. Everything from here on is gravy :)

I would not be surprised if these basic ring series makes a comeback somehow in the Ring Courses Coach hinted at a while back.
