Champion Points Name/KoF Tie-in

Here's my proposed solution to the Champion Points name:

1) Champion Points are the sum of Social Score and Reality Score. Social score is weighted at something like 1/10 or 1/20 the worth of the Reality Score (can be adjusted).

a) Social Score is gained through the normal fun interactions and can be increased or decreased through various challenges/modes.

b ) Reality Score comes only through official GB means. King of Forum contributes the most and other "walk the walk" opportunities award points towards this score as well. For example, we can give X towards the Reality Score for attending a seminar, Mastery Service, GB Athlete level testing, etc. Reality Score is permanent and cannot be lost.

2) Athlete of the Year comes from the highest Champion Points score. The idea is to tweak the conversion ratio so that participating in the social aspect can have an impact, but not such a drastic one that it knocks someone legitimate from the opportunity. I also want it this way so that hard work and dedication are rewarded foremost: e.g. someone who works hard at mastery, levels, and/or seminars but isn't the most advanced athlete still can be in the running. IMO we reward for taking care of business and not solely on someone being advanced.

a) Done well, this can aid in creating a demand for OLC services/level tests. Athlete of the Year winning a free spot in the GB Retreat seems a pretty dang compelling reason to become a GB Athlete. That level of personal attention by a National Team Coach seen at the retreat is worth far more than the certification and seminars. It gives non-instructors another reason for bothering with level tests. We just make sure the retreat is something everyone wishes they could go to.

b) Reality Score can also be the only thing that rewards desirable GB items. For example, GB T-Shirts might only be able to be obtained by paying at-cost after a certain Reality Score.

3) "BS Mode" helps to self-police the social score side of things. I'm tempted to name the mode "Zombie Call: Save the World from Undead Posing as Superheros" or something to that tone. Successfully winning a challenge at calling someone out for BS rewards 1-2 Reality Score while the imposter loses that amount of Reality Score (can make them go negative). These will be judged by random arbiters (can accept/decline doing this), have a "cool down" so that you can't do this too often, and awards the arbiter some Social Score. The arbiter interface only shows the uploaded video without the member name so it's as objective as possible.

a) I intend to intersperse as much good humor as possible in the system. When someone laughs, they automatically are having fun. :)

These thoughts are aimed towards the goal I have of tying together everything we do. The theory above gets a bit heavy, but the implementation is very simple for the user because it will all be video game analogies or other similar social references that are generally understood internationally. My intent is for the system to feel natural. In a year or two from now, I intend that we will have fully smashed competition to such a point that they are atoms to an elephant because they can't duplicate the quality and creativity of everyone here.

- The sol'n makes sense to me, it ties all of the different forum events together under one banner nicely.

- On a practical note, a question/concern is how will we actually go about maintaining all the data?

e.g. Nic does an online cert eval, will he now have to record this eval in the CP system as part of that?

It'll be a hook into the forums and/or InfusionSoft that automatically communicates with the system.

Is the Athlete of the Year only open to certified GB Athletes?

That would be ideal. It may not be enough by itself to start selling level tests, but we certainly need perks for non-instructors. If we're going to call them athletes, we should make them feel like it. Perhaps events, extra contests, something like an athlete-only webinar once a month or every other month with Coach. A little extra face time goes a lot of mileage. How can we capture the same feel Coach's athletes get without the physical presence?

I would think it should be and some athlete only challenges here and there get them to compete against each other and show off for the aspirin a bit.
