General thoughts and ideas.
GB Athlete cert. you have completed a GB L1 Seminar.
Assistant Coach: You are observing and helping at seminars. Two seminars (as an athlete) minimum prior to this level and an invite from the seminar coaching staff.
Unpaid position and you are responsible for your own travel and hotel; however seminar tuition is waived and a per diem of $75/day is provided.
Two seminars working as an assistance coach are the minimum time in grade necessary to be considered for promotion to Team Coach.
Team Coach: You are actively helping teach at seminars, can pass/fail testing and have assistants helping you. This is where we discussed offering affiliation. Expenses (transportation/lodging) covered in addition to receiving pay and per diem.
At this point, people in the GB system as Team Coaches would have attended a minimum of two seminars as an "athlete" and "assisted" at two more seminars as an "assistant coach".
In addition, "Coaches" are only able to teach and pass/fail materials from levels which they have been certified in.
Senior Coach: you help teach in front of the large seminar group. More expectations, acknowledgement of knowledge. Expected to show more in depth knowledge, the ability to teach to a larger group and also at instructor only meetings. May have their own speciality area.
Master Coach: you can hold (GB) seminars without Coach being present. Expenses covered, more pay. Can do it all.
In reality it is doubtful that even at full capacity there will be more than two to three who achieve the ranking of Master Coach.
Pay discussed at the time was TC: $100/day, SC: $250/day, Master: $500/day on top of travel expenses covered and a per diem of $75/day. If the travel costs for the particular seminar were high either pay would be scaled or seminar cost would need to reflect. Seminar size dictates staffing needs but we need to plan in advance so people know.
Every instructor should be expected to teach once a year.
Things to address:
Certificate of Completion for attendees. This ties into CEU's.
Certification Certificate for athlete and instructor. CEU and people like to display stuff.
Cory has mentioned the idea of a manual for instructors. Many organization do this. RKC/SFG do this but it also changes from year to year where senior instructors will submit training articles. How they teach a specific element, or how they organized a training session. Real world application of the system as examples for new instructors.
