Talking to some people who went to the PCC seminar.

First thing they all talk bout is how fun it was. It was not to gymnastic perfection but they made it fun for everyone and taught some basic "tricks" along with the material to keep people motivated.

Bringing bodyweight training more into the light will help us out also. Make this type of training more popular and get exposure.

Coach Sommer

Please give specific examples of what they found "fun".

Nic Branson

Mostly the general vibe of the group. It was not too serious. They played with elbow levers, no hand head stands with rail or wall support, bent arm flags and the like.

Pavel was always knocked for not being fun or laid back and the general populace did not care for it at all, only really helped the for advance people.

The staff instructors were fun, laid back attitude but serious enough to teach while not hammering on people. There was no criticism for not being perfect or drive to be completely perfect with the disregard for any enjoyment from it.

Coach Sommer

- Sounds entertaining, but completely pointless in terms of future progress.  They basically paid $1K plus for adult babysitting.

In one, to two, to three years the participants are still going to be nearly as weak and tight with the same skill level that they possess now.

- and now after only a single weekend the participants are now considered "instructors"?.  Ridiculous.

- That being said what can be added to the GBS that maintains quality, but also incorporates more excitement for the participants?

Nic Branson

Instructors for their own clients not of the system for seminars like our track. Still lame but closer to our GB Athlete certs.

The KoF challenge did go over well and I think each seminar should get a challenge during it.

We need engaging instructors, not just talented but able connect to people and engage them while not getting too serious.

All about personality. Also asking for feedback on instructors see who people like and help everyone improve.

I think we are on the right track. Just need to carefully work development and market our people as much as the product. Start small and work a small core group for seminars, expanding later.

Bit more information.

Full progressions were covered for, FL, OAC, OAPushUp, Flags, Headstand, Handstand....It was just not the first thing mentioned to me had to talk to another person. See if I can find anything else out.

Coach Sommer

Very good.  Let's make sure also that they did not use copyrighted GB progressions.   :icon_twisted:

Looks to be all work from the book. Talk to a couple more people and see what I can find out.

Coach Sommer

So if it is progressions from the book; they are ineffective and incomplete which is good for us.  Other than as entertainment very little actual progress will be made.  Which means that eventually many of their customers will come looking for us.  :)

Nic Branson

Yeah I see quite a few injuries and overuse issues coming up for many people from this.

Is marketing directly to DD facilities something to consider in addition to CF?

Cory Fair

No comment. Really, nothing to say.

Nic Branson

Figured just posting the pictures was enough.

To put a point on it, one attendee who did get certified is planning to seek coaching elswhere for body weight training.

Coach Sommer

The blind leading the blind. It appears that they simply attempted to blend different things they had seen elsewhere with a bunch of stuff they made up.

Nic Branson

I think my research with PCC is done.
