I haven't gotten here yet, but 5 sets of 15 V-Ups and Straddle V-Ups seems like it would be much harder than its next element, which is 5 sets of 5 Hanging Tuck Leg Lifts.

Can someone who has gotten here yet tell me your experience with this movement?

Alessandro Mainente

you have to remember that the foundation series is build up to increase strength and develop the correct motor pattern activation to achieve a particular element..

so don't see every progression as a "move from a element that require a X strength effort , to the following element that is X+1 strength effort" but also as a road to achieve a movement that must be automatized! for example manna is a core movement where the upper body is vertical during the lift...

so if you cut the skill into pieces, you need to develop strength under different level:

-leg lift from supine position

-leg lift from support where the upper body is vertical

so when a foundation strength of the first lift type is achieved you move over the following pattern that you have to conquer! that is the vertical body compression with upper body vertical minimizing the help of the other muscles...from here when a certain level of compression is achieved you move over compression from support, but in order to do that you need compression with upper body vertical and compression starting from supine position and legs straight on the floor..

so is only about strength?

NO, is also a matter of increase the number of variables (and master them)  that compose a movement...

is different view the skills under that aspect but this is WHY i think that the coach's work is wonderful!

he built up stenght, he built up movement!

enjoy that...you are leaning to move  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)

this is my POV

Or in the case of some exercises like ABH, learning to stay very still :).

And enduring the pain!
