Hey guys

Today i was talking to my coach about the gymnastics apparatus in my adult class and he kinda shook me by saying that i will not be able to perform on the apparatus except rings. He mentioned that i am not agile enough and its also because of my height (6'1). Im also turning 20 this year and i attend the classes twice a week. Im really disheartened by this but i really love and wanna perform on all the apparatus :(

Sounds like you need another coach. My friend is in his 30"s and started on the pommel horse and parallel bars 2 years ago. He is pretty awesome now. Also he is 6"4. Maybe you won't be going pro but you can surely use the equipment and learn a few things on them.

That makes no sense for an adult class. Sounds like a very poor recreational coach indeed.

I feel like a giant spazz learning gymnastics at my age, and yet no one has told me I can't use any apparatus, in fact most of the coach's have been very helpful in my quest to learn the most rudimentary skills.

You're not training for the Olympics. Your height might be a handicap, but it's not going to be a limiting factor when learning the basics. You probably won't be able to learn a double layout, and a cross will be much harder for you than for someone who's a foot shorter. But those sorts of skills are out of reach for the majority of people who start at that age anyways. Put in the work to master the basics, and you'll be surprised at how far you can actually go. If you really love all the apparatuses, then learn to use them. Don't let hypothetical future limitations dissuade you from doing what you love in the present.

Don't be disheartened mate. If you want to do it then you need to find someone who is willing to teach you. It's a shame that some coaches/teachers have this attitude and they've probably already put a lot of people off. I say do what you want and start from the foundation skills and build on that. Like Hari said, there are some skills that will be harder but don't let that put you off. I'm 6' 4" and am having a great time... even if I do look like a spanner when I get on any apparatus :)

How he feels about you, is how he feels about himself. It's nothing personal.

Don't let other people set limitations for you.
