Hey guys. I don't want to do gomad because i don't want to get real fat and i doubt my mom will buy milk every day.If i do it half will i gain muscle? I eat like an orange or pop tarts in the morning, whatever if for lunch at school, and dinner i eat a lot of food, meats, rice, chicken, potatoes, mac n cheese. And snacks ill eat some peanut butter. I dont get a whole lot of calories in my diet and i guess this diet is keeping me at 150 at 6'1" :(. Im tired of being somewhat skinny although i have almost all muscle. The half gallon of milk, do you think it would hit the sweet spot of extra calories to boost my gains of muscle and very minimal fat. And i feel performance is compremised due to little calories.Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Just eat like 8-10 ounces of meat and 6 ounces of either rice/potatoes or vegetables 6 times a day everyday and you'll make solid gains.

I have to agree. In America, it is hard to get high quality milk. Ironically, in some states, it's easier to get grass fed milk for your animal than yourself.

Peanut butter is decent weight-gaining fuel, but make sure you get the kind that is made from just peanuts (salt is ok). Nonfat Greek yogurt is excellent breakfast food (almost entirely protein), and goes well with lots of things, like peanut butter, fruit, cocoa, nuts, and more.

I have a relatively poor appetite, so I do tend to rely on milk to keep my calorie intake up. I generally consume between half a gallon and a gallon a day depending on what else I eat. I do get organic milk though. I would be a lot more wary of drinking that much milk produced in a confined animal feeding operation.

Its quite possible that it would be more optimal for my health to get calories from other source, but at least for a body composition standpoint it is great. It makes it a lot easier to hold on to muscle and it hasn't caused any issues with staying lean. As for the milk/cancer connection in that study, I'll just point out that its an epidemiological link, and thus should be taken with a big grain of salt.

Morning: Bacon, Eggs, Potato, Avocado

Lunch: Chicken, Rice, Green stuff

Dinner: Salmon, Rice, Tomato

Boom. Eat that every single day and you'll do fine.

Dont eat the same thing everyday.  Diet is not that simple... Though not that complicated.  If you want to gain weight eat more calories with enough protein.  There done.  Don't try to make it harder than it is.  Timing the meals will make it even more effective.  When I was in school the lunches were horrible.  Try to pack your own.  If you can eat a snack at break.

Like what I said before. I've been doing this for awhile now and between now and the previous diet I was doing (mostly paleo stuff and probably 4 solid meals a day), I've gained 8 solid pounds of muscle and am still less than 10% body fat. The gains are still coming too. It's hard work and involves making all of my meals portioned out for 3-4 days in advance but it's worth it.

Sorry, the end of my statement was sarcastic. Should've added a face :P

Anyway, eat good food. And eat a real breakfast. GOMAD is for people who eat like monsters already, not a meal replacement deal.

OP: Your first goal is to eat more food.

You're young, you're entering one of the fastest growing periods of your life, and you're active. Yes, it is better if you can get lots of awesomely healthy foods, but for YOU, specifically, because of your age and your activity, the goal is simple: 30g Protein at every meal, and plenty of other food.

You need calories, and you are definitely not getting enough.

You won't get fat as long as you don't go full retard on the junk food, so don't get super focused on specifics.

If you manage to drink half a gallon of whole milk throughout the day, that will definitely help. It may or may not cause acne to get worse for you, but you're also going through a testosterone deluge, or will be soon, so you can expect acne to pop up (no pun intended) either way. If you think the milk makes it worse, it's easy to cut it out for a week or two and see what happens.

It is definitely a good idea for you to try and get lots of vegetables, but until you have a job and are making money that you can spend on food, you're stuck with whatever your parents buy and whatever your income (allowance, odd jobs, whatever) will let you buy.

If there's any way to get a few eggs in the morning with your pop tart, that would be a good start.

Remember: You need protein with every meal, and you need more calories. More, more, more! :) Spread them out through the day, perhaps by bringing snacks to eat between classes. You will find that you probably do better in school this way, too.

Isn't it sad? But it leads to interesting stories.

Yeah Josh. I am buying some protein to help me out with, well, more protein each meal. I am also going to mix 5g creatine in each shake for the water effect. And the sad thing is, you cant have any food or drinks in classes because my school is a freaking prison! And i am also going to try to eat more food in the morning. I am a bad cook so ill try to make some eggs tomorrow. I also feel like i am not getting enough protein either. So in the morning i will make a shake with an orange and maybe some leftover burgers from last night or ill try to make eggs, or ill drink them raw. How do you feel about that?

 I am a bad cook

Seems like you need to start training in this field too! Practice makes better. Usually.

Also I used to do the leftover burger thing. I wouldn't eat raw eggs though.  Remember, your body isn't only built in the gym, you'll need to spend more time in the kitchen and probably more time sleeping if you want some decent gains.

See if you can get some snacks to keep in your locker or something. Remember, open food is one thing. I'm sure it's against the rules to eat inclass, so don't!

Hidden food in your pocket is not food. It doesn't exist to the school until you take it out to eat. Don't eat during class, eat in the breaks! If you can bring maybe two plastic bags with ~30g of protein so that you can mix a mid-morning and mid-afternoon shake, that would be a good idea. It would be best if you could have carbs with that, so something like a granola bar would probably work well. It might not be any of our IDEAL solutions, but it will work, be inexpensive, and easy to carry and conceal.

If that is an option, I would do this!

If not, what you suggested isn't terrible, but it would be much better to get the snacks, maybe after 2nd period and again ~2hrs after lunch.

If you feel like you still need more food, you should definitely also eat more in the morning!

Do not take more than 5g of creatine per day! That can cause some problems, and there's no reason to do so anyways:

If you want, you can take 5g of creatine four separate times per day for the first 5 days, but after that only take 5g per day. That first 5 days will fill you up. After that, all you need is 2-3g to keep your muscle creatine topped off, but it might be easier to take 5. That won't hurt you.

School usually has some sort of break and a lunch right?  You could eat then.  Eating about every three hours is the max I can really do and it feels fine and gives the results I want.

I haven't ever liked eating raw eggs.  They take like 2 minutes to make so I never have seen the point.  Plus there is a slight risk of salmonella poisoning.

Also about the creatine.  I wouldn't load up on that much creatine.  You really don't need that much per day.  There is no real added benefit unless you just like expensive pee.

Raw eggs are a bad idea. You will waste half the protein that way! They are much better when cooked! There's no difference between sunny side up and hard boiled (or anything else, as long as it isn't burned) in terms of nutrition, so your favorite way to cook eggs is the right way to cook eggs.

My protein shake already has creatine but it doesn't tell how much. I will add like 1 to 2 grams to each shake to be safe. I just started to workout 2x per day. First one is gymnastics and strength oriented and the second i more about mass. Ill have half a scoop of protein shake in the morning with WHOLE milk with added 1 to 2 grams creatine and food. After my first workout ill have another shake with 1g extra creatine and Peanut butter. 2nd workout ill have milk and dinner. Also i will be supplementing beta alanine with my shakes and dinner. I am trying a lot of experimenting with supplements. Do you guys feel it is worth it? And do you recommend beta alanine?

Hi Tavis,

If I were you, I would switch to a Whey Protein isolate just so you know exactly what you're getting.

I used to be pretty heavy into supplements, and I still experiment with some of them, but my suggestion is to save your money. You're in your prime growing time. What you need to focus on is: good food, good sleep, good training. Supplement with creatine and whey sure, but honestly, what I mentioned before is the trinity. Many people overlook the simple stuff thinking that supplements and testosterone boosters will help them with big gains, but that's just marketing man. Keep it simple, and keep at it, and if what I'm saying doesn't work within a year, I'll paypal you $20.
