reverse muscle up

hi to all...

i'm searching for a personal opinion involved with the reverse muscle up process.

now i'm using this approach: i fix the rings at 50 cm from the floor, i assume the headstand position between rings and i grab the rings, and after from relaxed position i do the bw curl until the sh stand position is achieved.

in this way i can measure the level of difficulty by increasing the distance of the rings from the floor. in your opinion there is a reasonable amount of cm that i can use to increase the difficult from 5x5 to the next cycle at 3x1?

second thing is particular. before this approach i was using the negative movement from shoulders stand and after reverse the movement. BUT the rev mu is starting from relaxed position, do your think that my approach (start from relax and then squeeze the biceps) lets to the same result as a negative-short iso-concentrich?

in simple words does a negative followed by the reverse of the movement has the same effect of curl from relaxed position?

i did some researches but i didn't find anything about that.

thanks for your time

Alex

What you describe in the last sentence, "negative followed by the reverse of the movement" involves the stretch reflex, and tends to generate around 30% more force than starting from a standstill at the same joint angle and body position.

So there is a big difference between A) lowering and going right back up and B) starting from the lowered position with no countermovement, and just going straight up.

As for the cm amount, just do what feels good.

It's worth doing both, you're getting more fiber activation from the counter-movement. Just make sure you can keep the motion going, without it becoming some kind of kip,  and this should actually make you stronger faster.

is what i was searching for! thanks you josh!!!!!
