I've been tracking Google Analytics for the site and am pleased to share the following data since the launch of the new forums and website:

-Increased unique visitors by 3.5-4x per month compared to the old forums and site

-Decreased bounce rate by over 20% (huge). Individuals are now going to more pages on their first visit.

-Increased the average amount of time spent on the website by over 2 minutes per person per visit

-Increased SEO ranking on 10 gymnastics-related keywords to be top 10

-Increased the popularity of the website in both USA and Australia by several percentiles

Things to be Done by All to Improve Our Rankings

-Less acronyms on the public portion of the forums. This is the primary reason we are not ranking higher on many gymnastic terms. If you must use them, put it in parenthesis afterwards. e.g. Gymnastic Strength Training™ (GST)

-More variety in topics. I will analyze and provide some subjects that we need to rank higher on. I have every confidence that some interesting discussions could come up on these. :)

-Increase average topic length. We should shoot for a minimum 3 pages per topic. This will take some training of members to have discussions beyond simple Q&A.

Excellent, Cory.  That detailed information is very helpful.

Excellent news!

Funny you post this now, yesterday I did some Googling, and noticed some things, but didn't want to lay it on you now.

Other areas we should improve our Google results for:

- Coach Christopher Sommer

My PAFG page ranks first here in Helsinki, GB two, GMB's 'review' is very high

- Gymnastic Bodies

GB is first but again GMB is very high

-  Building the Gymnastic Body

Amazon first / GB  second / GMB's review third!!!!

In addition there are the infamous reviews of BtGB on Amazon where BtGB gets three stars :(

Also note that the GMB listing have Ryan's photo, which in effect gives him more visibility

This is the real reason he wrote the review, they are actively trying to funnel off Coach's business, and by getting this kind of exposure for any GB related search they are able to do it. Particularly in light of all the negative reviews etc.

That unpleasant stuff out of the way. Clearly the new website and forum has been a huge success, and if anyone actually takes a look here vs. GMB etc it's very obvious where the quality lies.

Wow, good info Cory nice to see where the numbers really are here so we can more easily focus. Thanks!

Cole,

Google consolidates sources, so the only way to truly get rid of "Ryan" and amazon for those keywords is to have other fitness sites hosting our articles and mentioning us. That's a key part of SEO that we are missing, however, from a time perspective it's not practical to have Coach divert any effort into this just yet.

Fair enough, just putting it on the radar for the future.

I'm sure we can muster support from our community, maybe get an affiliate program going to provide motivation to use some keywords on sites. Heck, I've been doing that much for a long time.
