Time To Complete Each Skill

doing a little math here:

if the goal of these foundation courses is to do the 7 skills mentioned, and each course takes (for a beginner) 18 months, and there are 4 courses, is it fair to say that it takes a beginner 6 years to do these 7 skills?  for example, it will take me 6 years to do a manna?

just curious.

and on a related note, does that mean i should not be doing other types of exercise for the next 6 years?  no swimming, no running, no soccer.  seems kind of silly the way i asked it, but clearly certain exercises would interfere with progress.  for example, i wouldn't want to do exercises for rope climbing and then go climb mountains the next day.  i probably wouldn't want to do single leg squats and then go cycling.  see what i'm saying?

Absolutely not! Strength Training is just one component of a gymnasts training, and so it can be for you.

Keep in mind that just because the course includes rope climbing, doesn't mean that an typical trainee will be climbing a rope right away. By the time you are, you will have been prepared for it. It won't drain you so much that you can't do other activities. If this were the case Coach Sommer's gymnasts would never have the energy left to do skill work.

I also want to point out that the Gymnastics Bodies program is not a cult. Do whatever it is you like with the rest of your time, the strength training carries over to a wide range of other activities.

Sad thing is I've seen so many people who get strange ideas, that I actually think that needs to be said. Not saying  rjawad is one of them.
