Handstand Challenge 3: V-ups with Strap
GB athlete Demonstrates How to do a V-up with a Challenge in day 3 of the Handstand Challenge
This next core exercise is inspired by our Foundation Courses.
Your challenge (video below) is to get as close as you can to a straight leg v-up with toes pointed using a 12” strap.
Get Your Handstand, Mobility, Strength and Balance for 2017!
A strong core is essential in any activity and is one of the key components to your perfect handstand. Not all core exercises are created equal. Quality of movement and precision are vital to increasing your strength and getting your handstand.
Start by laying on the ground with your strap overhead. Keep your legs together and toes pointed and then simultaneously compress your legs to your torso and loop the strap over your feet. Make sure to bring the strap all the way down to your hips on the descent. Reverse the movement by bringing the strap back over your feet and toes to the overhead position.
Do 10 repetitions.
Hint: To get maximum height, pull your chest as far as you can into your thighs. You can always use a towel or sock in place of a strap 😉
