Arch Hold Form Question

When performing an arch hold, should I be actively pushing out with my stomach to lift myself up higher as well as holding the arch, or is holding the arch all that is needed?

You'll be holding the arch. You are keeping the core firm, but not intentionally pushing in or out: You'll find the tension that makes you comfortable and use that.

 

Focus on arching (extending) in the upper back and neck, not just the lower back. You want extended t-spine as well as extended lumbar spine, and you don't want to feel any intense pressure in the lower back around the vertebrae.
