Hi

Which do you think is more effective static or dynamic strenght training?

If you had to choose one (static or dynamic strenght training) which would you choose?

This is kind of a loaded/dumb question. Actually I would say negatives versus statics or dynamics.

Point being is one modality would leave you holes in your overall strength or performance as a gymnast.

If all you cared about was being in shape, dynamics are probably fine. Especially, as they will tend to give you a better overall workout than just doing negatives only in a workout.

Thanks

I´m just curious and it would be great to have som more inputs from as many gymnastic coaches as possible. In our gym we have a hungarian coach and one russian. The russian seems to favor static and the hungarian dynamic.

Both are essential. Incorporating both components into your training has a synergistic affect that cannot be duplicated otherwise.
