Protein in Beef Blood?

In my culture, beef blood is considered a delicacy so we serve it cooked in beef stew during seasonal gatherings. I just had some and was wondering if they're a good protein source?

According to wiki - serum total protein is 7g/dl.

That is 7% protein.

60% is albumin - which is similar to egg white protein

35% are various globulins - no idea as to quality

In comparison muscle is typically 25% protein.

sounds tasty.

eat meat, drink beef blood.

actually you can't even really drink it since it turns into jello so fast when in contact with air.

I've had it cooked a few times in "black pudding" which is a spicy blood & rice sausage. Not bad!

The primary value of blood is micronutrients! THere is some protein, but not a lot. However take this to heart: 2 tablespoons of animal blood per day functions as a very good multivitamin. This used to be mixed into the milk back in the day in times of famine, they would bleed the cow just a little bit. It doesn't notice 2 tablespoons gone every so often.

I like jello.

It also was an old Hun trick for surviving on the steppes with your horse when there was nothing else.
