Hi,

On the drinking water goal its advised not to add lemon or lime to the first litre of water.

I have seen this question asked before and the reply was that adding unnatural sweeteners can be like adding sugar.

Fruit is a natural sugar such as fructose so i'm a bit confused. Is this the reason why??

Thanks

Matt

I'll try to be short but clear...The sweet taste of artificial sweeteners triggers cephalic phase insulin release, causing a small rise in insulin levels. Regular use changes the balance of our gut bacteria. This could make our cells resistant to the insulin we produce, leading to both increased blood sugar and insulin levels.
