Andrew Garofano
Hello, I’ve been using the Foundations program for the past two months, making some steady progress and generally enjoying the movements. I’ve got a fairly extensive training background (CrossFit, Strongfirst, GORUCK events, etc.). My question is related to time management of the training. I want to continue with the GST, but it is difficult to manage the entirety of Foundation training while also tackling life’s responsibilities. For reference, I am in grad school full time, do long hours of shift work at a hospital, am a full time “stay at home” parent, and am attempting to keep reasonably fit into my mid 30s. I’ve heard Coach Sommer say that proper handstand training covers many (though not all) bases of GST (I believe it was on Tim Ferris’s’ podcast) . I’m looking for feedback on training both Handstand and Lower Body Foundation each twice per week. Has anyone ever tried anything similar? Successful? A reasonable approach? Not trying to get away with anything, just looking at effective time management. If it were up to me I would spend several hours a day training. Thanks for the input. Hi Andrew, the handstand is not complete work for the upper body. my suggestion is still doing foundations + handstand and lower body. the only solution is doing at least upper body foundations work twice a week....if you can do more and you can train 6 days a week you can consider 2-3 exercise all days for 1-hour training session.
