How often to do the knee series?

I’ve had a nagging knee injury (over a decade) and would really like to strengthen my knees... how often should I do the 15 minute knee series?

Is this something I can do every day?

Thanks,

Cam

Hi Cameron, it depends on your knee. I mean that you had an injury? what type of injury? what structures were affected? cartilage? tendons? ligaments? bones? did you have surgery? did you have a rehab?

Working on an injured joint it is not simple. it should be planned carefully with a PT, it is not possible reducing it only to "strengthen my knee".

Generally my athletes did the knee series twice and the calf series twice per week.

Alessandro - understood, thank you. I dislocated my knee cap about 15 years ago and never really fully rehabbed the knee. I did see a physio recently and he said that it’s a tracking issue and that I more or less need to strengthen the medialis and roll out the tissues on the outside of the knee. He said that should help the knee track properly again and ease the stress on the patellar tendon, which is causing the pain.

I am doing exercises for that but also thought it would be a good idea to do the knee series in addition.

Coach - I just looked for the calf series and don’t see it... is it under a different name in the programming?

Hi Cameron,

A portion of the calf series is included at the beginning of the Front Split course. The rest of the series may be available at a later date, however, there is no ETA for the entire calf series at this time.

Got it, thanks Jeffrey!

Ill do the first part of front split until the calf series comes out.

I'd really like to do the rest of the calf series as it's the worst part of my body from a functional standpoint. I did the knee series yesterday and it made my lower body feel amazing. Right now I am in the template of knee series twice a week and the middle and front split once a week.

I have time now to do as much work is required for optimal progress but I know sometimes my enthusiasm is detrimental.

Any suggested tweaks to schedule? Perhaps knee series more frequently and and 1 more front and middle split day?

Thank you for all the help.

Ray

HI Raymond, doing more is not necessary. if you are progressing....stay with the actual template. if you fail on finding the optimal work because you are doing too much....well...it's too late. there is always time to add more work. but if less work works...doing less is better.
