Minimum Equipment Reqs for Foundation

Hey, I'm currently using the Handstand program twice a week while I continue to lift.

I've actually seen better gains from the Handstand progressions than my lifting, and was thinking about starting Foundation 1, but don't feel like investing in a power rack or any extra equipment at the moment.

How far can I get in Foundation 1 without purchasing any extra equipment beyond a dowel, an adjustable beach, a mat, and some weights?

Hi Clifford,

Thanks for reaching out and happy to hear that you’ve been enjoying the Handstand course. I am sure that you will enjoy the Foundation series as well :)

Gymnastic Strength Training™ can be done anywhere. In fact, many students choose to workout regularly in their own home. Below is a list of equipment required for each course:

Fundamentals None

Foundation

To Begin Foundation One: Floor space, rings, a light dumbbell, stall bars, box for incline pushups, For other foundations moving forward: Frisbee, chin hold bar, Dip bars, Rope, BackStrap
For Door Hangers, Back Strap and Rings: https://www.gymnasticbodies.com/gear/
Stall Bars: https://www.amazon.com/DuraBod-Gymnastics-Strength-Bodyweight-Strengthening/dp/B07258M16P/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514853646&sr=8-3&keywords=stall+bars

Stretch
Yoga Block, Yoga Strap (optional)
Resistance Band, Way to Elevate Feet (Bridge Only)
Yoga Blocks: https://www.amazon.com/Peace-Yoga-Foam-Exercise-Blocks-Blue/dp/B019YJQT8O/ref=sr_1_6?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1514853741&sr=1-6&keywords=yoga+blocks

Handstand
Wall, Dowel with Weight or Weighted Bar (5-10lbs)
Dowels can be purchased from your nearest hardware store.

Tumbling Wall and Floor Space

I hope this helps. You will not need any fancy equipment as squat racks etc :)

Thanks for the information!

Unfortunately, I'm currently renting and don't believe I'll be able to install stall bars right away.

How many progressions could I get into Foundation 1 before they are required?

You can be limited to one progression which requires the stall bar. but you should be able to adjust the other exercises.

Hey Clifford. Alessandro is correct -- not having stall bars will not affect training too much in Foundation One. I am renting now and have compensated by using a metal roof-top access ladder in my building as a stall bar. It works great in most instances -- only now starting to cause some issues due to being too narrow for some progressions in late Foundations Two/early Foundation Three.

Hello,

I need advice about the equipment nedded to perform SL PE3. I know GB sells back straps and door fix tools but if I'm going to buy those from Italy I will spend a lot of money due to shipment and import duties. I'd like to know if there are alternatives.

at the moment I'm doing arch ups on the ground in substitution of SL PE3.

HI Gabriele , you can use a normal belt for the weigthed pullup/dip and wrap a straps inside the rings at the edge fo the belt.

What is an affordable way to get parallel bars? Can I get away without having an actual set of parallel bars? Parallettes or a dip station isn't appropriate is it?

Mike are you working out at home or at a CrossFit like gym. You can make Parallettes from cheap PVC which will be adequate and you can make many, many equipment substitutions (many can be found here on the forum), to remain affordable but still get your desired training effect.

Will ring straps be okey for that purpose?
