Advice on dealing with tendonitis

Hiya,

I have been doing GB for several years now and have seen great improvements. I wish I had been able to do this program 12 years ago. I have been doing HS, PHS, The 3 stretch series, mobility and foundation work. Unfortunately before I began this program I had been battling  Pes anserine tendonitis and Hamstring tenodonitis, which (I came to discover recently) over time had caused me to develop APT, which in turn caused many compensation symptoms, which sent me looking for help. All of this of course was a gradual over time onset situation, so I did not really notice what was going on until I began to get obscure symptoms. Currently my left hamstring is tight and painful, not in an crippling, inflamed way, but in a "you better not try and stretch me way". I am working with a PT atm, who is obsessed with getting "my hips properly aligned" and is not really able to advise me, due to not understanding, my personal strength training program. I am turning to the community here to see if anyone had an suggestions on what to do or what not to do in order to best recover from this chronic tendonitis. I have cut out all forms of running and plyometrics, anything in martial arts that puts strain on the hamstrings, Parts of the middle splits and front splits series and cut back on my SLS training, all of which seem to irritate the condition.

Thanks for any help

Yancey

Hi Anite, your tendonitis can have many causes. Personally for me is completely impossible to give you an idea about where the problem is. have you already checked a PT?

Yes, I am working with one now. He believes my condition is at least partially brought on by having anterior pelvic tilt, the other part could be overuse(Running, leg work etc etc PRe-GB) I am doing 100% of what he says to do. He tells me to avoid running, plyos and deep squats, which I am and have done in the past for it, but I have never been able to completely get rid of it. He tells me to not to stretch out my hamstrings because I am hyper flexible in my hamstrings and does not seem very concerned atm that my hamstring flexibility in my left leg is 1 / 5th my right leg without pain. He says that my left leg is still more flexible than it needs to be. (I do not agree with his hamstring opinions).I am doing many rehab exercises for addressing APT right now.I am just curious if anyone has any generalized ideas for treating tendonitis to get best results.

Hi Anita,

I recently went to see a adhesion specialist that found I had some scare tissue in my lower back which was keeping my pelvis stuck in APT. Just something to think about on top of your PT is find an adhesion speciailst. I am in Denver, not sure where you are.

What s exactly an adhesion specialist? I ve never heard about this kind of specialists here in Spain. It would be great I could find one. I m asking because the right side of my pelvis is stucked on APT. All my right hip is super tight (hammies, hip flexor, adductors and abductors) and I have a disc bulge in l5s1 on the right side, so I ve been told my pelvis is compensating, trying to keep safe my discs.  I m expecting to improve it with all these stretchings.

I will have to look into this, like Antonio, I also have a L-5 S-1 Herniation on the same side I am having trouble with APT (A fairly mild one). I am located in WA state
