ok so I would like to only do straight arm work ( front levers, planches, back lever, iron cross ) but i hear you can have joint issues with straight arm work. Is there a way to protect joints or warming up ?

The way to protect your joints for ring training is to properly prepare them before you begin. Front Lever, Planche, Back Lever and Iron Cross are all exercises that take a significant amount of time to prepare your body so that you can perform them without the risk of injury. Coach Sommer recommends that athletes finish the Foundation series before beginning any serious Ring Strength work. This is done so as to minimize the chance of injury.

A program that is solely focussed on Straight Arm Strength at the expense of all other work like Bent Arm Strength, Leg Strength, and Core Work seems totally unbalanced why not let Coach Sommer and his 40+ years of experience take care of the programming for you.
