Bench press and planche progress

So, given the assumption that the more strength you have in a give muscle, the faster progress will be through a gymnastic progression, will building strength in the bench press allow me to progress faster when I do start working the planche?

Yes and no. Sort of depends on where you are at currently. I remember Jim on Beastskills used heavy weighted dips as an accessory movement in planche training.
