Guest Ido Portal
The reason is that the pecs are, among their other functions, internal rotators of the humeros, and you are basicly keeping them from fullfilling their optimal function by locking the rotation of the humerus in external rotation.Ido. braindx
The reason is that the pecs are, among their other functions, internal rotators of the humeros, and you are basicly keeping them from fullfilling their optimal function by locking the rotation of the humerus in external rotation.Ido.For the non-physiology guys...What this means is that when the muscles are drastrically shortened or elongated, the force you can apply decreases. This is the force-length muscle curve and you can see that at resting muscle length you can apply the most force. When you externally rotated the shoulder it puts the pec into an extended/elongated position which decreases it's force output potential. (The dotted line shows how force output decreases as the muscle length increases -- passive tension does not play a role here like it does in flexibility work)Less force output potential = lessened ability to stabilize the support position = more shaking and falling faster
