Philip Papandrea
Hi I was at my physical therapist yesterday for my shoulder pain which is about almost gone. Most of my pain was caused by poor motor control and movement of my scapula in exercise which I'm working on improving now. I had him check my form on push-ups. He said everything looked good but for shoulder health I should be doing them with a neutral grip on parallel bars. He said that leaves a little more space in the socket to avoid impingement. Now I'm wondering should I be doing foundation on parallel bars or with hands turned out to side on push-up and spl exercises? I thought it was pretty natural to have hands facing fwd but now I'm confused.
Cole Dano
If you have access to low parallettes, push up bars, use them, otherwise angle you hands out.
